Drafting – write for yourself

Write a book you’d like to read. If you wouldn’t read it why should anybody else?
Hilary Montell

Do you enjoy writing? Do you just get a kick out of getting words down? Does it put a smile on your face and a spring in your step when you get that thought out of your head and share it with other people or just file it for yourself to come back to and enjoy later?

If you want to make a living from writing then eventually you’re going to have to share your work but, to get started, why do you have to be writing for anybody except yourself? You know better than anybody else exactly what you would love to read, so why not have a go at writing exactly that, just for you?

If there’s a style/genre of writing that you love, or a particular topic that you can’t get enough information on, then it’s likely that other people will share that interest. I don’t need to tell anybody about the success of the 50 Shades of Grey books; it’s just great to see somebody writing about something that they have really enjoyed reading about.
