The Innocent – Shiloh Walker

I like Shiloh Walker’s work so when a new one comes out it’s always something to look forward to. This one doesn’t disappoint! The FBI Psychics series is only two books in but I think it could be going to be my favourite of her work.

Welcome to Hell and a story that starts out at a run and pretty much stays that way. The main characters Jay and Linc are both flawed and both have things to hide. Watching them work round their issues to get to a point where they can be together is a lot of fun and I was cheering them on all the way. The frustration levels referred to in the blurb go off the chart and kept me reading it through in one sitting.

At the same time, this is not a fluffy tale. The town of Hell totally deserves its name and there are a list of characters who absolutely deserve to be there.  Some sad things happen to some good people before we reach an ending that offers some hope.

I’m not one for spoilers and the tale is so tightly plotted that it’s hard to say more without going there. But I would recommend this to anybody who likes their romance with some sizzle and a slightly grittier plot than your average story. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
